2024 Fiestas and Events near our Bed and Breakfast Holiday Accommodation

  • New Year’s Day, January 1st. Sunrise at Sant Sebastia, a swim in the sea followed by lunch at Tragamar.
  • Los Reyes Magos. The evening of the 5th January boats set sail from Calella to Llafranc carrying the three kings who dispense gifts to the children.
  • St Valentine’s Day. This year Valentine’s Day falls on Wednesday the 14th therefore the weekend of 16th/17th we will have our “romantic break”. (Ask for details)
  • La Garoinada. Throughout February and March many restaurants participate in local gastronomic dishes. The principal primer plato is the Sea Urchin.
  • 30th Gastronomic Week of Girona. from 11th March
  • Easter Sunday. March 31st (Easter weekend 29/03-01/04).
  • Euro Laser Sailing Competition April 18th-21st. Contested over 3 days in Calella de Palafrugell.
  • St George’s Day April 23rd Sant Jordi is also the patron saint of Cataluña.
  • Spanish Formula 1 Gran Prix. 21st-23rd June at Barcelona. We usually go down on the Sunday (23rd) for race day.
  • Girona Flower Festival  11th-19th May. A week of floral displays in Girona. Last year there were over 50 sites throughout the old town. Very popular locally, with literally thousands visiting. (Ask about the special breaks at Casa Dos Torres)
  • La Sureda. The cutting of the cork in Llofriu. The Saturday before the eve of San Juan. Llofriu organizes walks, demonstrations and a communal lunch.
  • Fiesta de San Juan. Tuesday 23rd June. The Verbena de San Juan, the evening before on the 22rd, is the noisiest night of the year, with fireworks, parties and a big hangover the following day. Casa Dos Torres always has a party to which guests are invited.
  • St Peter’s Day is celebrated in Calella on the 29th June with public festivities over two days. This often coincides with the last weekend in June when sailing boats with lateen sails assemble in the bay.
  • Havanares Festival Calella de Palafrugell Saturday 6th July. Tens of thousands are attracted to this famous festival of seafaring songs now in it’s 52nd year.
  • Cap Roig Botanic Gardens concerts mid July-mid August. Previous performers have been; Bob Dylan, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Elvis Costello, Tom Jones, The Beach Boys, Liza Minnelli, Julio Iglesias, Joaquín Cortés, Leonard Cohen, James Taylor, Simple minds, Keane, Enrique Iglesias and Michael Bolton among others. There is always a range of ballet, opera, flamenco, jazz, and sometimes rock music. The artists list is not usually published until March.
  • Various Concerts take place throughout the summer in front of the Calella church, featuring mainly jazz & classical music plus the Sardanas
  • Mercat Boig (Flea market) Llafranc, first Saturday in September.
  • Catalan National Day 11th September.
  • Fira of Sant Narcis in Girona. Early November, ten days of activities in Girona, their Fiesta mayor.
  • Fiesta San Martín. November 11th. Patron saint of Palfrugell.
  • El Niu. First fortnight of December participating restaurants have gourmet menus of particularly local cuisine.
  • Pessebres Vivent in Pals. The town of Pals reenacts about twenty biblical scenes over three or four nights at Xmas. Very atmospheric. Many other towns now have them also.
  • Nochebuena. December 24th. After a late dinner many people attend mass,”La Misa del Gallo” (Rooster’s Mass). Presents are distributed on Xmas eve.
  • Nochevieja. December 31st a time for grand dinners throughout Cataluña. We always have a Hogmany Party at the house with traditional Scottish country dancing!
